Electrical design is provided by engineering sub-consultants, selected, coordinated and supervised by KALKATIC, and sealed by the responsible professional under their own permit to practise.
Investigation is a different matter. Post-loss assessment of electrical systems and equipment within a KALKATIC assignment is carried out by our own engineers. The sub-consultant is brought in once the file moves from finding the cause to designing the fix.
Why clients bring us in
- One contract and one project lead across the electrical scope and its coordination with the rest of the building.
- Sub-consultants selected for the installation type, briefed by us and reporting to us.
- Renewable and resilience measures scoped against actual load, not aspiration.
Coordinated scope
Electrical Engineering
The scope below is what we coordinate on your behalf. Most files use a subset, so we scope to the question in front of us.
Power distribution systems
Service, distribution and load management design.
Lighting design
Interior, exterior and specialty lighting with controls.
Emergency & backup power
Generators, UPS and emergency distribution.
Fire alarm & life safety
Detection, notification and code compliance.
Communications & data
Structured cabling and communication infrastructure.
Security systems
Access control and surveillance infrastructure.
When to call
Typical triggers.
- Fire or water has reached electrical equipment and its condition must be assessed, which is investigation work we carry ourselves
- A building’s service capacity is being outgrown
- Life-safety systems are due for upgrade or have failed inspection
- A backup power or life-safety addition needs engineering rather than a supplier quote
